Why is Lawrence having such difficulty attracting candidates to run for school board?

“I think that it’s an incredibly difficult job. The people elected to the board will have to make some difficult decisions, and we don’t treat our public officials well. Those things discourage people from running.”

“Because they have a lot of tough decisions to make, and a lot of people don’t have the time to put into it.”

“Probably because there are so many controversial issues right now; it’s not an easy job.”

“I would guess it’s such a tough job that nobody wants to run.”
