Do you think the death penalty should apply to teenage criminals?
Asked at Seventh Street on October 22, 2002
“I don’t think anyone should be sentenced to death.”
“I think that depends on mental competence, although I don’t know how competent a 16-year-old can be anyway. If you commit a crime, you have to realize that punishment would be in order.”
“No. If you put people to death for killing people it teaches nothing.”
“I don’t agree with that because every life has a right to live under any circumstances and has a right to be forgiven.”
