Does snowboarding deserve to be an Olympic event?
Asked at Lawrence Public Library on February 22, 2002
“I think snowboarding is an Olympic sport because there are a lot of people with an interest in it and enjoy it, even though it is less exciting than the other sports.”
“If people are passionate about it, I can’t see any problem with it.”
“It has reached a level of acceptance and credibility in the alpine sports world, even though it attracts a different kind of participant and audience.”
“Yeah, because they have other sports that are just as athletic. You have to be talented. It’s just like skating. You have to be talented for that, too.”
