Would a national missile defense system make the country safer?

“I think it would. The thought of having it would probably deter war.”

“No, because it relies on fear as its objective.”

“No. It seems like the threats we are facing have nothing to do with missiles from overseas. There are so many ways to hurt people, it seems asinine to say that this one thing will solve all our problems.”

“People inside the country will probably feel safer, but it may arouse unnecessary criticism, and at a time when we are trying to control weapons, it probably isn’t a good idea. But to protect us from outside attack, it’s good.”
