What is the most interesting thing you have learned about the Civil War?
Asked at Civil War Artillery Camp at Constant Park on August 19, 2002
“To me, I guess I like the battle logistics, setting stuff up and tactics.”
“There’s a lot of different things, like how a cannon works.”
“After battles were over, relatives and friends on either side of the conflict would fraternize and visit with each other. The war was really civil; families were split apart and fighting, but they would still visit after battles.”
“I think the most interesting thing I learned was that the Civil War really started right here in Lawrence.”
