Which programs do you think are essential to schools, and which could be cut, if necessary?
Asked at Community Mercantile on August 18, 2002
“I played sports, but I think schools focus on them too much. If they cut some sports, that may help. Schools need to focus more on education.”
“I think essential programs are ones that prepare them for after high school. The basics, reading, writing, arithmetic and preparatory classes for higher education.”
“I would say music, art and other kinds of programs that promote creativity should not be cut.”
“They should not be cutting money from schools. They could get the money from the defense budget.”
