What should Lawrence do to increase voter turnout at primary elections?
Asked at the Lawrence Aquatic Center on August 6, 2002
“People like food. You could appeal to their stomachs, or have a local celebrity signing autographs. It’s a shame that you have to make it exciting for people to do their civic duty.”
“Have the pool as the primary election place.”
“Advertise more. I saw a sign at one of the voting places, but that’s the only way I knew about it. I didn’t hear anything on TV or radio.”
“Probably inform voters better in the paper who the candidates are. People aren’t informed very well.”
