What are you thankful for?

“I’d say just being able to be with family and friends.”

“The good weather because it’s just kind of nice. I don’t like the cold.”

“Being alive, and being able to be with my family.”

“I’m most thankful for family and friends. This year has been a horrible year for so many people for so many different reasons. I’m thankful just to have that comfort.”

For the blessings we have received. I was your front page story "Giving Thanks" 11-26-1998. At that time celebrating 5 years surviving "terminal cancer". I am celebrating 18 years this month. I am of course overwhelmingly thankful for my continued survival. But mostly I am thankful that I will be spending Thanksgiving Day giving to others as a nurse on duty that knows no holidays and that on Saturday the 26th my two sons from Chicago and the St. Louis area, with girlfriend and new daughter-in-law respectively will be celebrating our first Thanksgiving after a devastating total house fire took everything we owned, 25 years of living and raising our children and the life of our beloved cat, Sylvester. All we had were the clothes on our backs that fateful morning. We cannot express the gratitude and humbling experience, as being givers to those less fortunate our entire lives, being the receivers of bountiful blessings from neighbors and friends, The Big Springs and Stull Churches, The Tool Barn, Boy Scout Troop 18, The Kansas Turnpike Authority, The Red Cross, and the 7 Fire Departments responding were, Kanwaka Volunteer FD, Lecompton Volunteer FD, Wakarausa Volunteer FD, Clinton Township fd, ldcfm, Shawnee Heights, and Auburn. Many thanks to those men and women who responded. Our holiday will be bittersweet in remembrance. Therefore but by the Grace of God go I.
