Should tax dollars be used to give cost-of-living increases to local government employees?

“You’re talking about increasing taxes, and no one likes that, but the fact is, the government workers get paid through taxes, and the cost of living has gone up.”

“Since cost of living does go up for everyone, what’s the justification for them to get it and not everyone to get it each year?”

“Yes, of course. Everybody needs to have a cost-of-living increase. You’d have to have working people be able to live.”
