Memorial services for Bonnie Marie Taylor, 83, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at WarrenMcElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar. Born Bonnie Marie Pippert on December 20, 1934 in Worden, KS, she was the daughter of Alton C. and Gladys M. (Ford) Pippert. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence and attended Bethany Nazarene College. She married Roy A. Taylor in Lawrence on June 17, 1954, and took great pride in their nearly 64 years of marriage. She especially enjoyed a 50year anniversary cruise to Alaska and a 60year celebration with family and friends. She was active in her church and an avid reader. She combined those two passions when she opened Cross Reference inspirational bookstores in Lawrence, Manhattan and Ottawa, and successfully operated and managed them from 1971 until her retirement in 1992. Bonnie had a love for activities and sports her family was involved in and was a fixture at their events. As a lifelong Lawrence resident, she also was a devoted Jayhawks fan. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, St. John Catholic Church and Lawrence Free Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Roy; a daughter, Lianne Martin and her husband, Dallas, of Denver; a son, Loren Taylor and his wife, Susan, of Champaign, IL; and two grandchildren, J.C. Taylor and Elise Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Barbara Pippert.
