Valeta Mae Tah Birdcreek

Val was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on Saturday, November 25, 1939, the daughter of Reverend Wesley and Ardelia (CriesForRibs) Tah. Val went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 6, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 78 years of age. Val was a graduate of Enterprise High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas in 1974 and began working at the bureau of Indian Affairs in Washington, DC for approximately 10 years. She returned to Oklahoma to pursue a Master Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Val was employed as a mental health counselor and health care provider. She was married to the late Amos Birdcreek. Val was a member of the Ponca, Tonkawa Tribes and an enrolled member of the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma. She enjoyed visiting various churches within the Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference, participating in United Methodist Women Activities and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
