James Donald Lobb

James Donald “Jim” Lobb, 82 of McLouth, died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born June 3, 1935 on the family farm in McLouth, the son of James and Bessie Faye Shrader Lobb. Jim was a 1952 graduate of McLouth High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a lifelong farmer and dairyman in McLouth and served his community in many ways. He was a member of McLouth United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge #14 in Oskaloosa. Jim served as a school board member of McLouth U.S.D #342 from 1972 to 1985. He also served on the boards of Jefferson County CoOp and Leavenworth County CoOp. He served as a 4H club leader of the Crackerjacks 4H club for many years. He also served as a board member of Cottonwood Inc. and as a board member of the first Jefferson County Special Education CoOp. He was married to Shirley Pauline Gerrell on February 27, 1955 in McLouth, she survives of the home. He is also survived by four daughters, Kathy Sue Lobb, Lawrence, Sharon LobbJohnson, McLouth, Susie (Tom) Schwinn, Leavenworth, Janet LobbWise, Lecompton, one sisterinlaw, Gwen Lobb, Mission, and five grandchildren, Jake Schwinn, John Schwinn, Michael Johnson, Candace Pickett and Morgan Bowker. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marlin Lobb and Merlin Lobb and two sisters, Irma Palmer and Fannie Botts. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday at McLouth United Methodist Church. Burial to follow at McLouth Cemetery. Visitation will 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday at the Church in McLouth.
