Robert O Larsen

Robert (Bob) O. Larsen, age 81. Born July 17, 1936, New York NY. Died Sept 6, 2017, Lawrence Ks. Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Alice (Reid) Larsen, sister Jayne (Larsen) Shattuck, and great grandson Zachary Carroll.
Bob was a longtime resident of Larned KS. He married Sharon J Cole on Jan 24, 1959 in Little Falls NJ. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954­1974 and retired on Apr 4, 1974. He was attached to the naval aircraft carrier USS Saratoga as an Aviation Structural Hydraulic Mechanic and served many tours including Japan, Mediterranean, Iceland and Vietnam. After retirement from the USN he worked for the Dept of Corrections in Larned KS until his retirement in 2005.
In 2014, he and Sharon moved to Lawrence KS to be near their children and grandchildren. Many of his friends affectionately called Bob SOB (Sweet Ole’ Bob). He always had a nickname for close friends and family and a New York style humor.
Survivors include his wife Sharon, children Vesta (Peck) Hicks Nekoma KS, Allen Peck Lawrence KS, Lisa Larsen Lawrence KS, Sonja (Larsen) Carson Nekoma KS, and Robert (Lori) Larsen Larned KS. His siblings Sonja (Larsen) Griffin Chesapeake VA, John Larsen Herkimer NY, George Larsen Southport NC, and Larry Larsen Montague NJ.
Grandchildren (13): Jessica Albert, Shannon Peck, Jeremy (Trista) Peck, Andrea (Packy) Kissick, Scott (Karen) Richardson, Marshall Newell, Tyler (Amanda) Newell, Jacole (Newell) (Jarod) Kirchgassner, Alice Hitz, Kristen Larsen, Chase Kruse, Cody Dunn, Josh Larsen, and John Larsen. Great grandchildren (15): Nikki Albert, Devin Albert, Kaleb Carroll, Logan Horton, Riley Whisenhunt, Colton Kissick, Allie Kissick, Kordell Richardson, Karley Richardson, Felicity Newell, Caroline Newell, Blythe Newell, Ella Kirchgassner, Abigail Kirchgassner, and many nieces and nephews. Bob was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Larned KS. Services will be 10:30am Sept 18, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Church, Larned KS.
