Bradly L Chindamo

Bradly L. Chindamo passed away on September 2, 2017. He died peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was 48.
Brad was born on March 15, 1969, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Daniel W. and Linda R. (Smith) Chindamo, of Abilene, Kansas. Brad spent his early years in Clay Center and Wamego before his family settled in Abilene, Kansas. Brad attended Abilene High School, where he was an excellent student and a popular and respected athlete, achieving success in track, tennis, and his favorite sport of all, basketball. Brad spent much of his free time on the basketball court, perfecting his game. After graduating from Abilene High School in 1987, Brad attended Bethel College, North Newton, Kansas, where he majored in Business Administration and forged a number of lifelong friendships. Brad was a star on the Bethel basketball team, where he was renowned for his behindtheback passes and gamewinning shots.
Brad developed an interest in banking while working parttime at 1st Federal
Savings and Loan during college. Brad also spent a summer working at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Following graduation from Bethel in 1991, Brad accepted a position with Central National Bank in Halstead, Kansas. He later moved to Lawrence, Kansas, and continued to rise up the ranks at Central National Bank.
Brad attended the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, earning a master’s degree. Brad joined Landmark Bank in January 2008, as Market President / Eastern Region. He was later promoted to Executive VicePresident – Credit Risk Manager for Landmark in 2013. Brad relished his role as business advisor and partner to his banking clients. He was a consummate professional, driven and entrepreneurial, but always humble, helpful, and empowering to his clients and coworkers.
Brad was a devoted husband to his wife, Ellen (Williams) Chindamo, who survives him. Brad and Ellen recently celebrated nine years of marriage, reflecting that each year together had brought them closer and enriched their lives in countless ways. During Brad’s first marriage to Piper (Foust) Njoroge, they had two children together, Dawson and Sophia. Brad’s step daughter, Siena Casagrande, became a part of Brad’s family when he married Ellen. No matter how busy life got, Brad always made time to be with Ellen and the kids, attending games and performances, taking family trips, and just relaxing at home.
Brad’s greatest joy was family. He enjoyed spending time with his brother Chuck Chindamo, of Parkville, Missouri, sisterinlaw Melissa and their two children,
Macey and Quinton, as well as his many other nieces and nephews, grandmother Betty Chindamo and close extended family. Brad also enjoyed spending time with his friends, including special trips to Florida, New Orleans, Cooperstown, and New York City, and many sporting events at KU.
Brad was active in supporting his community, serving on boards such as the Lawrence Arts Center, Bishop Seabury Academy, and Van Go, Inc., where he was president for many years. Brad was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Lawrence, Kansas, serving on its governing board and as treasurer. He was a member of Leadership Lawrence Class of 2005. Although Brad never sought the spotlight, he was generous with his time and counsel, assisting many charitable and philanthropic organizations. Brad made everything he touched better–his legacy of generosity to the community will long survive him.
Brad’s family and friends will miss his ready smile and fun personality. They will remember Brad as a loyal advisor, good listener, and faithful friend who was relentlessly positive and always more interested in others than in himself. Brad was kind, gracious, and caring. He was a selfless leader, understated yet confident, and always there for his family, friends, and clients.
As a nonsmoker, Brad contracted a rare form of lung cancer caused by a genetic mutation ROS1. The family is grateful for the care Brad received from his health professionals, and for the outpouring of love and support offered by family and friends during Brad’s illness, and now at the time of his passing.
