Marguerite Gibson

Marguerite Gibson, 93, of Ottawa, passed away November 14, 2017 Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. She was born in Ottawa, Kansas, September 28, 1924 the daughter of Guy E. Monroe and Lola (Peffly) Monroe. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1942. Marguerite was a proud lifelong Ottawa resident. On March 21, 1943 Marguerite was united in marriage with Raymond C. Gibson in Ottawa Kansas, Raymond preceded her death on April 11, 2000. They shared fiftyseven years of devoted marriage. In the mid 1940’s Marguerite and her husband Raymond owned and operated restaurants in Ottawa. In the 1950’s they farmed land at the northeast edge of Ottawa. In 1960 they founded BingGo Dog Food, Inc. They were very active in the pet food industry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ottawa, a longtime Ransom Memorial hospital Auxiliary volunteer, Founding Board member of the Franklin County Community Foundations, former member of the Franklin County Extension Unit, member of the D.O. Club, former member of the Ransom Memorial Hospital Charitable Association. Philanthropy was a major part of Marguerite’s life. She gave to many community organizations of her time and her money including Ottawa University and Ransom Memorial Hospital. Marguerite is survived by a two nephews, Phil Gibson and Will B. Gibson both of Ottawa as well as three nieces; Pam Harris of Ottawa, Sally LaPrad of Pratt, KS, and Julie Adams of Edmond, OK. Private inurnment services are being held at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, KS.
