David Andrew Jones

Dr. David Andrew Jones, 64, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017, after a valiant battle with cancer, at his home comforted with love as he was surrounded by family. David was born on December 19, 1952, in Colorado City TX, the son of Dr. Ray and Edna Jones. He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1971. David earned his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 1978, David and Vicci Rockhold were united in marriage. To this union they had two daughters. They later divorced. David practiced family medicine for 37 years. He started his career in 1981, serving the community of Baldwin City with his father, Dr. Ray Jones. In 2009, David moved from Baldwin City to Topeka. In 2010, David and Shelley Hiskey were united in marriage in Topeka. In January of 2014, he established his own practice, Pro+Med, LLC. and worked there until his death. David was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he served on the board as a trustee. He was also Vice President of the Kansas Association of Osteopathic Medicine, serving on the executive board, he was President of the Baldwin High School Alumni Association as well as serving on the board for the Netreach Program associated with the Topeka Rescue Mission. David was a pilot and enjoyed flying in his spare time. He was also a skilled woodworker and loved playing his steel guitar. David lived well, loved well and was always helping others. He was a man of prayer, always caring for not only the physical wellbeing of others but their spiritual wellbeing. David was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Shelley Jones, Topeka; daughters, Candace Moore (Chris) and Tabitha Borger (Jon), both of Lawrence; stepdaughters, Jodie Wesner (Pete), Ellinwood KS, Angie Sims (Aaron), Overland Park and Tracie (Luis Cazares), Topeka; ten grandchildren; siblings, Ruthie Goldey (Jim), Florida, Travis Jones (Marlene), Oklahoma, his twin brother, Paul Jones (JoAnna), Kansas, Tim Jones (Cindy), Kansas and Ben Jones (Monica), Arkansas, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. David was preceded in death by his parents. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3rd at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4th at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Boulevard, Topeka KS 66604. Burial will follow in Mission Center Cemetery in Topeka.
