James Arthur Taylor

James Arthur Taylor, 91, Lawrence, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at the University of Kansas Hospital. Mr. Taylor was born August 24, 1925 in Washington, Kansas, the son of Arthur George and Edith Selmer Taylor. He earned a B.S. at the University of Kansas in 1950 and went on to earn his D.D.S. at the University of Missouri in 1954. He served during WWII as a member of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Sea Bees, and received a commission in the U.S. Infantry in 1950. Mr. Taylor practiced dentistry in Ft. Scott, Kansas from 19541985. He was a member of the American Dental Association, Lawrence Country Club, past member of various civic groups, and the Episcopal Church. Mr. Taylor enjoyed playing golf, bird watching, and fishing. He married Delia Ann Neuitt in 1948; she preceded him in death in 1980. He married Sally Ann Kay and moved to Lawrence in 1986. She survives in their home. Other survivors include 2 nephews, Dennis Tinkham of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Steve Taylor of Houston, Texas; niece, Susan Peters of Scandia, Kansas; and a step son, Brad Kay of Evergreen, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Hubert Jacob Taylor of Houston, Texas; a sister, Vivian Tinkham ofWashington, Kansas. Inurnment will take place at Ft.
