Marilyn Rose “Sash” Jessepe-LaCour

Marilyn Rose “Sash” Jessepe-LaCour went to meet the Lord on Feb. 27, 2015. She was born June 7, 1959 in Horton, KS.
She is survived by her husband, Steve “Apayett” LaCour of thirty-five years, two sons Stephen Jr. “K-no-wass” and Evan “Chaulko” LaCour, two brothers Wayne “Tab” and Kenneth “Shawn” Jessepe, one sister Nora “Wasjawin” Pemma Parker. She also has two adoptive brothers Pat Mahkula and Edwin Green, an adoptive mother, Betty Rice and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of Native American Church, served for years both as an officer of the Brown County Chapter of NAC and for the Native American Church Club at Haskell Indian Nations University.
Native American Church services will be held Sunday, March 1, at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Nation Reservation, beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be Monday, March 2 at 2 p.m. at the Mshewakiya “Jessepe” family cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made in her name to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
