Memorial services for Normeasa “Sue” Forbes, 81, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday,
January 10, 2015 at First Christian Church. Private burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. She passed away January 5, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO.
She was born December 27, 1933 in Memphis, TN the daughter of Elmer C. and Sybil N. (Crockett) Lawlis.
She was an active member of the First Christian Church. She played in numerous bridge clubs and loved to travel. She enjoyed family time and taking great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and their achievements.
She was a bookkeeper and secretary for the University Daily Kansan for nine years until she retired in 1986. Prior to that, she was a secretary at Schwegler Elementary School.
She married John T. Forbes May 25, 1951 in Baxter Springs, KS. He preceded her in death June 16, 2004.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Lynn (Brad) Harsha, Lee’s Summit, MO, Laurie Ann (Doug) Sawyer, McPherson, KS, Susan Leigh Harper, Henderson, NV; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Kristi) Harsha, Kyle (Nicole) Harsha, Elizabeth (Mark) Fleske, Derek (Katie) Sawyer, Lucas (Kayla) Sawyer, Lance (Johnna) Sawyer, Tyler Harper; ten great grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjane Wamsley, Bartlesville, OK and Drenna Dean Bjork, Eugene, OR.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First Christian Church or American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
