Virginia Ann Parker Keen

There will be no services at this time for Virginia Ann “Ginny Lou” Parker Keen, 85, Lawrence. She died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Virginia was born March 27, 1929 in Dallas, TX the daughter of William Kenneth and Reba (McDonald) Parker.
She married Edwin Lafayette Keen on May 11, 1946 in Corsicana (Navarro County), TX and settled in Houston, TX where she and Edwin had four children, Harold (Becky) Edwin Keen, James (Bobbi) LaFayette Keen, Donald Kenneth Keen, and Marilyn A. “Annette” Keen. Edwin preceded her in death April 30, 1966. She then raised her children alone and eventually moved to Lawrence, KS in 1974 where she lived up until her death. She is survived by all her children, their spouses as well as her three grandchildren, Safeya LeeAnn Turner Keen, Robert Edwin Keen, and James Vincent Keen. She was also preceded in death by her twin brother, “Jack” Parker.
She landed in the arms of the Lord. I hope heaven is ready. She will be missed beyond words.
Her last couple of years she lived at Pioneer Ridge Healthcare facility. Our thanks to the kind, loving staff, who always went above and beyond in their loving care of our mother.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
