John A Golden

Funeral services for John A. Golden, 97, Lawrence will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. He died March 25, 2014 at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
John was born February 16, 1917 in Victor, Colorado the son of V.A. and Louise E. (Lartigue) Golden.
He served his country in the Army during World War II. He worked as a Maintenance Supervisor at Farmland Industries for a number of years.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge, Sertoma and very involved with the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder. He was also very active in Habitat for Humanity.
He married Sarah Jane Elliott on September 20, 1940 in Denver, Colorado. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Jack) Biddle of Nampa, Idaho; six grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one brother, Val Golden of Denver, CO; and one sister, Lucille of California.
He was preceded in death by his son, James A. Golden in 2012.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials in his name to First Presbyterian Church or to Habitat for Humanity and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
