Gary R. Spriggs

Gary R. Spriggs, 67, of Lawrence and a former Labette County resident died at 7:40 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at his home. He had been in failing health.
Gary was born on July 20, 1946 in Oswego, Kansas the son of Ross and Anna (Hinman) Spriggs. He attended Service Valley Grade School through the 8th grade.
He married Lenora “Sue” Adams on May 24, 1964 in Parsons, Kansas. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year at home with family.
Over the course of 42 years, Gary was employed by Spriggs Brothers Cement, Gary’s Cement Finishing, and Sunflower Cement Finishing. Gary was a 30 year member of the Operative Plasterers’ and Cement Masons’ serving his apprenticeship through Kansas City Local #518.
Gary enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, playing cards and board games, and watching the Game Show Channel.
His survivors include his wife, Sue Spriggs, of the home; his son, Terry Spriggs, and his wife, Becky of Lawrence; two daughters, Trisha Johnson, and her husband, Randy of Hesston and Tara Glanton, and her husband, Robbie of Lawrence; seven grandchildren, Kaleb, Kameron, and Krischan Johnson; Mitchell and Marrah Spriggs; and Tanner and Hunter Glanton; four brothers Joe Spriggs, Montford “Monty” Spriggs, Larry Spriggs, Perry “Jim” Strickland, and Bryan “Tim” Strickland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Raymond Spriggs and Roland Spriggs.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow in the Sherman City Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home at their convenience where the casket will remain closed.
