Obituary News Release of William David Younkin
William “Bill” David Younkin, age 68, of Ottawa, KS, died April 15, 2014, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. He was born December 7, 1945, in Newton, Kansas the son of George J. and Rita K Bradshaw (Boyle) Younkin.
Bill graduated from Newton High School in 1963 and attended Wichita State University. Bill joined the Navy in 1963. He had a 22 year career with Otasco at several locations. Starting as a trainee and becoming a manager, settling in Ottawa in 1988. Bill also worked at Ottawa Truck for two years. He went to Truck driving school and was an over the road trucker for four years. He then went to work at AutoZone as the Commercial Accounts Manager, retiring in 2011 after 15 years with the company.
Bill was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Newton, KS and attended Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa, KS. He was a 16 year charter member of the “Over the Road Gang.”
Bill loved his grandchildren and loved Nascar and was a big Clint Bowyer fan, and a Darrell Waltrip fan in the past. He would often go to the races with his kids and loved the Kansas Speedway.
He married Marceline Masten in 1967, they later divorced.
In 1994 he married Linda Shaver, she survives of the home.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Scott Younkin and his significant other Crystal Ahlin of Lawrence KS; Stacy Younkin and his wife Phyllis of Eudora KS; stepson Adam Wadkins and wife Rebekah of Wellsville; grandchildren Austin Higgins-Younkin, Cooper Younkin, Dakota Younkin, Marcie Younkin, Autumn Ahlin, Shelby Younkin, William Younkin, Nicholas Younkin, J.D. Wadkins and Flint Wadkins.
Mr. Younkin was preceded in death by his father, George and stepfather, Walter Bradshaw.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, Ottawa, KS. Family will receive friends Friday evening April 18th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lamb-Roberts Funeral home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS.
