Margaret (Margi) W. Malicky

Margaret W. (Margi) Malicky passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 79 years of age after a long illness.
Margi was born on December 22, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas the first child of Clarke and Leota (Wright) Wilson’s eight children. She graduated from Wichita East High School in 1951. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas in 1956. She was an active member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and the United Methodist Church. She earned her certificate in Medical Technology from Wesley Health Center in Wichita, Kansas and worked as a medical technologist early in her career.
She married Neal Malicky on September 2, 1956. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this fall. They have three sons, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Margi was very active as the first lady of Baldwin Wallace University especially during the years of 1981-1999 when Neal was president. She hosted numerous receptions, dinners and gatherings with as many as 2,000 people a year in their home. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, home decoration and she made many lovely things for her family and friends. She was especially fond of visiting with family and friends and made close bonds with each person that came into her life.
Margi is survived by her husband Neal; their sons Michael Neal and his wife Heather and their children George and Caroline of Millersburg, Ohio; Eric Scott and his wife Kathy and their children Peter, Christopher and Hannah of Mequon, Wisconsin; and David Matthew of San Diego, California. She is also survived by grandson, James Michael Malicky and his wife Lisa and their children, Natalie and Zachary of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.
She is survived by six siblings, Kathleen Mitelhaus of Wichita, KS, Edgar Wilson and his wife Linda of Wichita, KS, Maurice Wilson and his wife Beverly, of San Marcos,CA, Sharon Fox and her husband Wendell of Meade, KS, James Michael Wison and his wife Janell of Vista, CA, and Ruth Bandy of Denver, CO, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her brother Clarke (Pete) and his wife Flo, and survived by their sons Corey and Randy, of Dallas, TX and their families.
She left many friends.
Celebration of Life service will be held in the First United Methodist Church of Baldwin, KS at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013. Family will receive guests at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin, KS on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute to the Margi and Neal Malicky Scholarship at Baker University, or the Margi and Neal Malicky Scholarship Fund at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, OH, or to the charity of their choice.
