Thomas L. Atkeisson 1929 - 2013 Kansas City, MO

Thomas L. Atkeisson, 83, of Kansas City, MO, died August 9, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 13 at John Knox Presbyterian Kirk, 11430 Wornall Rd., KCMO. Visitation to follow. Private interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Thomas was born to James & Clara (Allen) Atkeisson on Nov. 22, 1929 in Kansas City. For more than 50 years, he was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Kirk. He served in the National Guard, was treasurer for the Boy Scouts and helped raise four boys. He started his career at the age of 14 to later own his own company. He was a design engineer for the food processing industry worldwide and loved to ice skate every day during his lunch breaks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Louis Atkeisson; two sisters, Doris Stufflebaum and Nona Lound; a sister-in-law, Ruth Atkeisson and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Atkeisson. Thomas is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlene; four sons, Chris (Julia) Atkeisson of Lawrence, KS, James Atkeisson of Xenia, OH, Joel (Susan) Atkeisson of Overland Park, KS and Lynn Atkeisson of Olathe, KS; a brother, Robert Atkeisson of Wichita, KS; a grandson, Geoffrey Atkeisson of Los Angeles, CA; three granddaughters, Melinda Atkeisson of Lenexa, KS, Lauren Atkeisson of Overland Park and Carrie (Tom) Gilliam of Dayton, OH; and a great-grandson, Nolan Gilliam.
