Charles A. Crumet

Graveside services for Charles A. Crumet, 81, Oskaloosa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hardy Oak Cemetery, Jefferson County.
He died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at his home in Oskaloosa.
He was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Lawrence, the son of Edward W. and Minnie M. Skinner Crumet.
He attended McAlister grade school and graduated from Lawrence Memorial High School. He then attended Bethany College in Lindsborg.
He worked as a pipe fitter for Local Union No. 533 for 42 years before retiring in 1992.
Mr. Crumet enjoyed building and maintaining his new home in the country. He also enjoyed summer gardening, hunting, and building street rods. He loved sports, with basketball his favorite.
He married Juanita Beard on April 29, 1950, in Lawrence. They were married for 61 years. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Charles W. and partner H.R. Malinowsky, Berwyn, Ill., and Michael L. and wife Lucy, Lawrence; and one sister, Ester Gulley, Lawrence.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
The family suggests memorials to the Jefferson County Humane Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
