Michael Edward Smith 1947 - 2011 Eudora
Funeral services for Michael Edward Smith, 64, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
He died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at his home in Eudora.
He was born Sept. 22, 1947, in Columbus, Ga., the son of John Edward and Nell Louise Cumbaa Smith.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was graduated from Georgia Tech in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in management science. He worked in marketing with IBM for more than 20 years, until he was disabled.
He had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Columbus and attended Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and golf.
He married Marcia Christine Wilkinson on July 19, 1969, in East Lansing, Mich. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lindsey Hoover and husband Jason, Eudora, and Corey Marchetti and husband JP, Chicago; a granddaughter, Payton Hoover; a grandson, Colby Hoover; his mother, Nell Smith, Columbus; a sister, Becky Curry, Dover, Del.; and a brother David, Smiths, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his father.
The family will greet friends from 12:30 until service time Wednesday at the mortuary.
