Anna Ruth Gray 1913 - 2011 Windsor, Mo.
Funeral services for Anna Ruth Gray, 92, Windsor, Mo., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Windsor with Pastor Paul Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Mo.
Mrs. Gray died Sunday, July 24, 2011, in Lawrence.
She was born April 30, 1919, in rural Clinton, Mo., the daughter of Emery George and Susannah Dehn George.
She graduated from Clinton High School and later from Sedalia Business College. She and her husband, Wyley, farmed and owned and operated a filling station and a laundry in Clinton. In 1955, she started her employment with Kroger’s Grocery Store in Windsor and later became the first woman head meat cutter in the Kroger chain in Missouri.
She was a member of the Henry County Chapter of the D.A.R., the Windsor Country Club and the Windsor Historical Society. She was a very active member in the First Christian Church in Windsor, where she was an elder and taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. She loved traveling, watching baseball, playing golf and cards with friends, and especially being with her family.
She married Wyley Loyd Gray on Nov. 28, 1940, in Clinton. He preceded her in death Oct. 21, 1990.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Emery Fredrick Gray; a grandson-in-law, Brandon White; and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Paul Gray and wife Kitsy, Lawrence; three grandchildren, Tacy Fleury, Jody White and Jay Gray; four great-grandchildren, Grayson, Clara, Marianne and Erwin; a sister, Evelyn Anstine, Fox Wood Springs, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends before the service, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
