Margaret Bertha Wolf Traylor Elvig

A memorial Mass for Margaret Bertha Wolf Traylor Elvig, 100, Lawrence, will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 1234 Ky. Inurnment will be private.
She died Saturday, March 20, 2010.
She was born May 9, 1909, in Leavenworth, the daughter of George W. and Lora Marchefke Wolf. She graduated from Leavenworth High School and Huff Secretarial School in Kansas City, Mo., and was a legal secretary there. She lived in Lawrence since 1932 and attended Kansas University.
She operated the Joe Traylor Insurance Agency during her husband’s service in the Navy in World War II.
She was a homemaker, volunteered for various organizations, and was a docent at the Spencer Museum of Art. From 1965 to 1968 she was house director at the Pi Beta Phi sorority at KU. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Chapter FZ of P.E.O., Ventura Club, Delta Zeta Sorority and the Orchards Ladies Golf Club.
She married Joe R. Traylor in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1964. She later married Frithjof H. Elvig in 1968. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include two sons, Jon W. Traylor and wife Sandra, of Twisp, Wash., and D. Tom Traylor and wife Carrie, Gilbert, Ariz.; extended family including Elaine Connell, San Francisco, Elizabeth Shinn, Kansas City, Mo., and John F. Elvig, Houston, and their spouses; and 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Following the service, the family will greet friends from 10:45 a.m. to noon at Presbyterian Manor, 1429 Kasold Drive.
The family suggests memorials to either the Joe Traylor and Margaret Traylor Elvig Student Fund (#01087) at the Kansas University Endowment Association or KU Audio Reader, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
