Ethel Mae Hipsher

Graveside funeral services for Ethel Mae Hipsher, 89, Tonganoxie, will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mount Sidney Cemetery in Linwood.
She died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at her home.
She was born March 12, 1921, in Bonner Springs, the daughter of Jasper and Lucy Fish DeMaranville. She was a former Linwood resident.
She and her husband lived their entire married life in Linwood where he was the mayor from 1971 to 1978. She retired from Stokely-Van Camp Food Manufacturing in 1986.
She married Stanley Hipsher. He died in 1988.
She was also preceded in death by a brother; three sisters; and two great-grandchildren, Nicole Shakowski and Crystal Torneden.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald S. Hipsher, of the home, and Roger S. Hipsher, Overland Park; six daughters, Stanett Torneden, Overbrook, Nancie Bryant, Oskaloosa, Sandra Smith, Ozawkie, Sherry Williams, Tonganoxie, Shirley Gilbert, Overland Park, and Reta Solwa, Tonganoxie; a brother, Jasper DeMaranville, Basehor; three sisters, Stella Standish, Basehor, Mary Neiman, McLouth, and Sharon Martin, Bonner Springs; 26 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the Make-A-Wish Foundation, sent in care of the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs, KS 66012.
