James H. Hendricks 1920 - 2007 Topeka

Funeral services for James H. Hendricks, 86, Topeka, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mr. Hendricks died Friday, May 18, 2007.He was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Antlers, Okla., the son of Charles Harold and Edith Roebuck Hendricks.Mr. Hendricks served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.He was an over-the-road truck driver and a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 696 in Topeka. He and his wife were involved in the flea market industry in Topeka since the early 1980s.He married Cecile R. Gamache on July 7, 1942, in Dover, Del. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2006. Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Martin-Smith and husband Robin, Lawrence, Edith "Bunny" Bolton and husband Sam, Chattanooga, Tenn., Diane Hoover Roach, Topeka, and Mary Jane Pore and husband David, Derby; a brother, Donald, Summerville, S.C.; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, where the family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. that evening.
