Clayton N. Hedrick

Topeka – Funeral services for Clayton N. Hedrick, 83, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery’s Mausoleum Chapel in Topeka.Mr. Hedrick died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Midland Hospice House.He was the son of Herman and Alice Hedrick. Mr. Hedrick served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation ordinanceman. He owned and operated Hedrick’s Market in the Highland Park area and later joined the Dillon Stores Co. He worked in the grocery business for more than 44 years. He was a lifetime member of Orient Lodge No. 51, American Legion Post No. 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1650. He coached teams in the Topeka Girls Softball Association and youth bowlers at Gage Center Bowl, and volunteered for many years with Stormont-Vail’s Heart Comeback Squad.Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lois; a daughter, Carol Watkins, Lawrence; and two granddaughters.The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel’s Southeast Chapel in Topeka.Online condolences may be sent at www.penwell-gabel.com.
