Wanda Broadfoot

Services for Wanda Broadfoot, 54, rural Douglas County, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ in Centralia. Private inurnment will be in Centralia Cemetery. Mrs. Broadfoot died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, from injuries received in an automobile accident.She was born Nov. 21, 1951, in Seneca, the daughter of Robert and Gweneth Schooler Ward. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1969, and attended the Manhattan Area Vocational Technical Training School, where she became a licensed practical nurse.Mrs. Broadfoot was employed for more than 20 years in the billing department for the Internal Medicine Group in Lawrence. She most recently worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart.She was involved with her children’s activities, including Girl Scouts, Future Farmers of America, 4-H and horse show competitions.She married Michael Broadfoot in August 1975 in Manhattan. He died in April 2003.Survivors include a daughter, Gillian Broadfoot, Lawrence; a son, Kent Broadfoot, rural Baldwin; her father and stepmother, Robert and Joan Ward, Seneca; a grandmother, Alice Margaret Schooler, Centralia; and two sisters, Karen Rivera, Wakarusa, and Janette Boucher, Topeka.The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.The family suggests memorials to the Kent and Gillian Broadfoot Educational Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.Online condolences may be sent to info@warrenmcelwain.com, subject: Broadfoot.
