Gertrude M. Tweddell

Visitation services for Gertrude M. Tweddell, 88, Lawrence, will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.Mrs. Tweddell died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.She was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Chanute, the daughter of Ira and Viola Thurman Dozier. She moved from Chanute to Lawrence in 1965.Mrs. Tweddell worked for the state of Kansas social welfare office and Kansas Department of Transportation, both in Chanute. She worked at Kansas University in the office of the comptroller and retired in 1974. She was an active participant in a water aerobics group. She was a flower club member, a member of the Gestnarian Club and a master gardener.She married Thomas Tweddell on Feb. 12, 1944.
