Jane Blandin Puckkee

Services for Jane Blandin Puckkee, 96, Mayetta, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta. Burial will be in Shipshee Cemetery west of Mayetta.Mrs. Puckkee died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at her home.She was born May 4, 1909, on the Potawatomi Reservation west of Mayetta, the daughter of James V. and Ptis-saw Kozee Blandin. She graduated from Haskell High School and Institute in 1928.Mrs. Puckkee worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto and as a cook at Blandin and Grand Prairie schools. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Shawnee County Nursing Home and Stormont-Vail Hospital. She worked at Slimaker Dress Factory for 15 years, and also for the Potawatomi tribe as a C.H.R. for more than 10 years. She was recently recognized as the first Emergency Medical Technician in Jackson County. She was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church.She married Joseph P. Hale. They divorced. She married Mage Puckkee on Sept. 4, 1940. He died Feb. 26, 1989.Survivors include two sons, Roy Hale and Lawrence E. Hale, both of Mayetta; a sister, Sarah Blandin Patterson, Mayetta; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.The family will receive friends following a rosary recital at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. A rosary also will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church Hall on the Potawatomi Reservation.The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
