Graveside services for Elizabeth Collins, 83, Lawrence, will be at a later date at Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester, Mass.Mrs. Collins died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.She was born Aug. 4, 1921, in New Orleans, the daughter of Clark W. and Madeline Fuller Collins. She attended Colby Junior College in New London, N.H., and graduated in 1944 from the School of Occupational Therapy in Boston and in 1953 from the University of Iowa.Mrs. Collins worked at hospitals in New York, Salem, Mass., Boston and Iowa City. She was assistant professor and chairman of occupational therapy curriculum from 1954 to 1971 at the University of Iowa and had academic positions at the University of Wisconsin and Wayne State University. She was coordinator of rehabilitation services at Rock Island (Ill.) Franciscan Hospital.She joined the Kansas University faculty in 1978 as an associate professor of occupational therapy and retired in 1986. KU established the Elizabeth Collins Outstanding Senior Student Award in her honor.Mrs. Collins was a member of the American Occupational Therapy Assn., World Federation of Occupational Therapists, Association of Schools of Allied Health Professionals and Kansas Occupational Therapy Assn. She served in leadership positions for several state occupational therapy associations and was a consultant for several universities.She also was a member of Pilot International Club, the League of Women Voters, Iowa City Citizens Advisory Committee, Business and Professional Women, and University Women's Club.Survivors include a brother, Clark Collins Jr., of New London; a niece and two nephews.A twin sister, Madeline "Bunny" Blair, died earlier.E-mail condolences may be sent to email@example.com, subject: Collins.Warren-McElwain Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
