- Free State’s Annie Soderberg (251.05 points) and Jacqueline Zaitz (248.50) were fifth and sixth, respectively, after the preliminary and semifinal rounds of the diving portion of the Class 6A state swimming and diving championships on Thursday at the Capitol Federal Natatorium.

- Though Free State High’s girls swimming team might not be champion of the Sunflower League, the Firebirds can definitely be considered queens of the relay. The Firebirds swept the three relays in impressive fashion Saturday, setting a league record and school record in the process on their way to a second-place finish in the Sunflower League meet at Prairie Trail Middle School.
