The Minnesota Vikings selected Christian Ballard with the ninth pick of the fourth round on the final day of April. The Boston Red Sox used a seventh-round selection on June 7 on left-hander Cody Kukuk, who signed an $800,000 contract 10 weeks later. Earlier this month, Brady Morningstar signed a contract to play professional basketball in Greece. All three graduated from Free State High, which has had plenty to take pride in on the athletic front recently.
Alex Green’s hard work paying off on golf course

Not yet a junior in high school, Alex Green hammered his drive on the 10th hole at Alvamar public 335 yards, hit a knock-down gap wedge onto the green and drained the putt for a birdie that put him two-over par with eight holes left Tuesday in the first round of a two-day Kansas qualifier for the Trusted Choice “Big I” Junior Championship.
