Ex-FSHS linebacker Loneker wins Shrine Bowl MVP

Former Free State High linebacker Keith Loneker has earned plenty of accolades over his prep career, but this time he was stunned. Loneker knew he was playing well in the Shrine Bowl on Saturday at Pittsburg State University, but he was left near speechless when he was named the Most Valuable Player for the East squad at the end of the game. Free State High senior Scott Frantz sat down with his parents on Friday to tell them his plan. He was ready to commit to a college. On Monday, the Firebirds’ offensive tackle was ready to announce his plans to everyone else. Frantz orally committed to Kansas State University at the end of his visit to the school. After spending the last week working in non-contact drills, Free State High’s football team finally put on full pads and went up against an opposing team on Thursday. The Firebirds participated in the Baker University football camp Thursday morning and afternoon, held at FSHS. Free State football senior Keith Loneker will be rewarded for being one of the Sunflower League’s top linebackers. Loneker was chosen as a member of the East squad in the 2014 Kansas Shrine Bowl. The all-star game will be played at 7 p.m. on July 26 at Carney Smith Stadium at Pittsburg State University.
