- World Company Cup returns to Free State

- For the seventh time in eight years, the World Company Cup belongs to Free State High. The trophy, awarded since 2006 to the school that prevails most often in City Showdowns and other competitions between rivals Lawrence High and Free State, spent the last year on display at LHS. However, the Lions’ claim to the cup proved short-lived, as Free State conquered the Lions, 17-9, in the standings. By Benton Smith

- Free State had one individual medalist and placed sixth in the boys team standings, and Lawrence High had two individual medalists at the Class 6A state bowling meet on Friday at North Rock Lanes. For Free State, Eric Goglau had a 626 series (186-204-236) to place 19th. The top 20 individuals earned medals.
