City swimmer wins junior national title

Lawrence native Michael Andrew, 15, won his first junior national title in the men’s 100-meter backstroke Saturday at the Speedo Junior National Championships. He swam a personal-best time of 55.73, which just missed the meet record by 0.27 seconds.

Ex-FSHS linebacker Loneker wins Shrine Bowl MVP

Former Free State High linebacker Keith Loneker has earned plenty of accolades over his prep career, but this time he was stunned. Loneker knew he was playing well in the Shrine Bowl on Saturday at Pittsburg State University, but he was left near speechless when he was named the Most Valuable Player for the East squad at the end of the game.
