Overland Park man arrested in Lawrence on suspicion of carrying stolen firearm

Lawrence police arrested an Overland Park man over the weekend on suspicion of possessing a stolen firearm.

Police arrested Isaac William Scott, 19, after a traffic stop at 10:45 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Clinton Parkway and Crestline Drive.

While speaking to the driver of the vehicle, the police officer noticed that Scott, who was sitting in the passenger seat, had a gun in his waistband, said Officer Derrick Smith, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department. The officer recovered the firearm from Scott and discovered it was stolen.

Scott was charged with criminal carry of a weapon and possession of stolen firearm with a bond set at $2,250. As of 3 p.m. Monday, he was not in Douglas County Jail custody.
