Police looking for suspect in Friday night stabbing in Oread neighborhood

Lawrence police are looking for a man accused of stabbing another man during an altercation in the bar district of the Oread neighborhood Friday night.

Police slightly before midnight responded to a report of a stabbing near the intersection of 14th and Ohio streets, Capt. Trent McKinley of the Lawrence Police Department said via email. On the scene, officers found one man who said he had been involved in a brief altercation with another man before being cut by a knife.

The victim was treated for non life threatening injuries at an area hospital, McKinley said.

McKinley said the suspect is believed to have fled the area on foot. Officers are following up on leads in the case, but had not made contact with the suspect as of about 7:45 a.m. Saturday.
