Home-invasion robbery reported near Lawrence High School; police investigating possible link to drugs

Lawrence police are investigating a home-invasion robbery reported early Saturday morning in the 2100 block of Tennessee Street.

The robbery reportedly occurred around 2 a.m., and the victim reported it to police about 45 minutes later, Officer Derrick Smith said in an email to media.

The victim told police that three people entered his home and demanded property, Smith said. He told police that one of the suspects hit him with a blunt object before his personal property was stolen.

Smith did not specify what property was stolen or what type of blunt object reportedly was used.

“The investigation is ongoing and officers are investigating possible links to drug activity,” Smith said.

The victim had an apparent minor injury but declined medical attention, Smith said.
