The next University of Kansas community budget conversation is scheduled for 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Kansas Room of the Kansas Union.
All University of Kansas faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the ongoing campus budget conversations led by interim Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Carl Lejuez.
“One reason these conversations are so important is that there is a wide range of understanding across campus about the basics of budgets more broadly and the specifics of our budget here at KU,” Lejuez said. “This brings the challenge of presenting the right material to be inclusive, but not too repetitive.”
Additional conversations will take place in October and early December, and the format will continue to provide question-and-answer opportunities.
The September conversation lasts an hour and will include 15 to 20 minutes of new information, including details regarding budget reductions made by each unit and provost spending in the past month, the status of the voluntary tenure-track retirement program, and responses to questions that have been raised since the last conversation. Forty minutes will be set aside for questions.
The October conversation will be 90 minutes and will focus on requested topics, including athletics and endowment. While each conversation will have an update on the new budget model being developed, the December conversation will provide a deep dive into the details of the model and will include updates on budget reductions made by each unit and provost spending, according to the release.
Sessions will be livestreamed and recorded for later viewing. Past presentations and information about the budget reduction can be found on the provost’s office website.
Individuals can ask questions or offer feedback through the KU provost’s office email account email@example.com, or anonymously online through the provost’s office feedback form. Lejuez also welcomes individuals to meet with him independently should they have specific issues or questions about the budget. To request an appointment, please inquire through firstname.lastname@example.org.
