Late tipoff of KU game will delay Sunday home delivery of Journal-World
Delivery of the print edition of the Sunday Journal-World may be delayed slightly this weekend.
The Journal-World is sending its pages to the press later than normal in an effort to ensure that the print edition of the paper will include a score and coverage of the NCAA basketball game between the University of Kansas and Auburn.
The KU game is scheduled to tip off at 8:40 p.m. Central Time. However, NCAA games that took place on Thursday routinely were starting 20 to 30 minutes later than their scheduled times. With tournament games often lasting for more than two hours, there was a threat the game would still be underway at the Journal-World’s press time.
The news and sports departments will push back their deadlines by 30 minutes in order to give more opportunity to get game results and coverage into the Sunday paper. That later press time, however, likely will push back delivery times by 30 minutes or more, meaning some papers may not be delivered by their normal time of 6 a.m.
Complete coverage of the game can be found at LJWorld.com. A digital replica of the print newspaper also is available at the LJWorld.com website beginning at 4 a.m. All print subscribers to the Journal-World have unlimited access to the online site and the digital replica of the newspaper once they activate their free accounts. Print subscribers can activate their accounts for unlimited online access at LJWorld.com/activate.
