No timeline set for opening of new Eldridge Hotel restaurant
When a new restaurant in the Eldridge Hotel will open is still up in the air.
Although signs in the windows of the historic downtown building at 701 Massachusetts St. show a plan for a restaurant to open in October, an official timeline has not been set.
When asked if the restaurant – seemingly named The Eldridge House Club Restaurant – will open soon, hotel general manager Nancy Longhurst declined to provide any information.
“We are working on a timeline,” she said.
Longhurst originally told the Journal-World the restaurant planned to open in May.
As for the delay, Longhurst said the hotel never set an exact timeline to open the restaurant but plans to open sometime in October.
“We are getting close and are very excited to share our renovation with the public,” Longhurst said.
The restaurant portion of the hotel and the Jayhawker Bar have been closed since March. The previous restaurant, called Ten, closed after 13 years of service. Ten featured steaks, pasta, seafood and a contemporary American menu.
Longhurst previously said it was time for a new image and menu. She also confirmed plans for an outdoor eating and drinking area in the current vacant lot directly south of the hotel.
The hotel planned to enlarge the restaurant’s kitchen to serve the needs of both the restaurant and the new outdoor space.
“It will be wonderful,” Longhurst said at the time.
