In this file photo from Nov. 28, 2016, Frank Ybarra serves a man during the annual LINK Thanksgiving dinner. Mary Olson, Janet Buie, Ybarra and Samantha Hauber were among about 150 volunteers who helped prepare, serve and deliver Thanksgiving meals for about 800 people.

Volunteers are needed for Lawrence’s community Thanksgiving dinner, which once again will be free and open to all on Thanksgiving day in the LINK dining room of the First Christian Church at 10th and Kentucky streets.

The meal is set to be served from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 22. Prior to the meal, though, volunteers are needed for the following:

• 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Maceli’s catering, 1031 New Hampshire St., to receive donated foods, cut and portion pies and help package other food.

• 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 22, at Maceli’s, to assemble and deliver hot meals that will be sent to homebound residents who cannot attend the dinner.

• Noon Nov. 22 at the LINK dining room, 221 W. 10th St., to set up and serve the meal and to clean up afterward.

To properly coordinate, organizers request that all volunteers register in advance. People interested in serving as a volunteer can call Deb Engstrom at 785-218-9347 or reach her via email at
