School board searching for alternatives

The Lawrence School Board is trying to find ways to cut nearly $5 million from the budget. The board does not want to close schools or lay off teachers, but says there are no easy choices left.

After a rather heavy, wet snowfall across our region Friday, which accumulated to roughly 3.5 inches in Topeka and Lawrence (and up to 7 inches just to our east over Johnson County, KS), another storm is on its heels. Several more inches are likely Sunday night and Monday.
