Seabury’s Grayson Rader goes 1-1 on Day 1 of 3-2-1A state tennis tournament
Bishop Seabury’s Grayson Rader received a first-round bye and defeated Colby’s Drew Starbuck in the second round of the 3-2-1A state tennis tournament on Friday at the Riverside Tennis Complex in Wichita.
Rader defeated Colby’s Drew Starbuck in the second round before falling to Wichita Independent’s Bryson Toubassi in the quarterfinals. The Seabury sophomore will return to the court at 9 a.m. Saturday in the consolation quarterfinals.
The Seahawks doubles team of Ian Hannah/Thomas diZerega earned a first-round win over Claflin-Central Plains’ Nathan Lee/Riley Kraft, but lost their two matches on the back side of the bracket. The second loss was by forfeit because diZerega had to return to Lawrence to be a lead in school musical. Seabury’s Peter Westbrook went 0-2 on Friday.
